Explosive Ordnance Disposal

Presently there are four active members of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Division (Bomb Squad). Five others are waiting to attend the 5-week basic bomb school at Redstone Arsenal located at Huntsville, Alabama. While at school, the new members will attend classes that focus on electronics, x-rays, explosives, render-safe procedures and other pertinent information. Each active member of the Bomb Squad is a graduate of the school and returns every three years for rectification. Members of the Bomb Squad also attend courses on Weapons of Mass Destruction, Post Blast Investigation, Bulk Explosive Destruction, and Large Vehicle Post Blast Investigation.

Equipment plays a large part in explosive disposal and render-safe procedures. The Bomb Squad has the latest in equipment ranging from bomb suits, real time x-ray units, blasting equipment and soon to have a state of the art robot.
