 Central Records Division

Central Records staff is responsible for processing and data entry of civil process papers, traffic and parking citations, accident reports, and incident and offense reports. The staff in Central Records also handles thousands of inquiries and requests, both by mail and in person, for information including copies of incident and traffic accident reports. 

Process Division 

The Office of the Sheriff, by State Statute, is responsible for the service of legal process in Milwaukee County. Deputy Sheriff's are assigned to the Process Division and are responsible for the timely service of subpoenas, restraining orders, injunctions, summons and complaints and a number of other legal documents.

To begin process service, send double copies (original + copy) of all legal documents to: Office of the Sheriff - Cashiers

Papers can be processed M-F 8:00 am – 4: 30 pm at the cashiers window. The general service fee is $35 per attempt, for most papers. A status of indigent report is required to waive the fee. For questions specific to your case call the Process desk at 414-278-4717.
