Temperatures over 95 degrees coupled with high humidity are considered by health officials to be extreme. This weekend we will see temperatures meet or exceed that level, and citizens are being asked to be vigilant against overheating. Click below for more information.

Get your kids ready for school by taking them to our 8th Annual Back-to-School Family Health Fair on Friday, August 15th. Enjoy a free lunch provided by the Salvation Army, and receive gifts and school supplies as you visit the various health checkpoints throughout the fair. The City of Milwaukee Health Department (MHD) is pleased to announce that Kawanza Newson has been named the new Health Communications Officer. Ms. Newson will serve as the public information officer and media liaison for the department.
In addition, the MHD is pleased to announce that Celestine (Tina) Grace has been named Community Health Services Officer. In her new role she will develop and manage relationships with community, business and health care organizations to support public health goals.

It is dangerous and against the law to open fire hydrants without permission. Milwaukee city officials today warned of the hazards of illegally opening hydrants as hot temperatures are predicted for the next few days. City Public Works, Health, Fire, Police, and Milwaukee Public Schools offered alternative ways to cool off.
