Milwaukee Fire Department Promotes First Female Fire Battalion Chief

 

WHAT:    Milwaukee Fire Department promotes first female fire battalion chief,

                 Debra Weber, who will be sworn in tomorrow by Fire Chief Douglas Holton.

                 Promotions begin at 8:30 a.m.

DETAILS: The Milwaukee Fire Department (MFD) will promote the first female fire battalion chief in its history tomorrow at the Bureau of Instruction and Training. The new battalion chief, Debra Weber, will be responsible for commanding, supervising and administering the activities of the fifth battalion. Weber was the former fire captain for Engine House 9, and has been with the department for over 21 years. Weber will take the Oath of Office in the presence of Fire Chief Douglas Holton, and will begin acting in the fifth battalion as of June 29, 2008.

At tomorrow’s event, five other MFD personnel will be sworn into their promoted positions as well. Out of those five, one is also being promoted to battalion chief, two are being promoted to fire captains, and the remaining two will be promoted to lieutenants. The event begins at 8:30 a.m. and will be attended by the family and friends of those being promoted.
